As we all know, the COVID-19 pandemic has brought many changes and challenges to our daily lives. And for students nearing graduation, forging the path forward to college is more complicated than ever.
One of the frustrations is how the process is constantly changing and certainly very different than what students might have been planning for.
How do you move forward when everything feels stuck?
1 – focus on what IS normal. The FAFSA is open and ready to be completed. Scholarships are still out there and open for applications. Admission deadlines are set and fast approaching. These traditional parts of the process haven’t changed appreciably so dig in and move forward.
2 – Where things are less clear, reach out. Asking for help when you need it is the greatest strength you can have and there are so many people out there who have answers to your questions and really do want to help you.
3 – Keep your long-term goals front and center. Yes, the world has changed but the future is still out there. Postsecondary education is more important than ever. There is still a place for you.
That’s all from here. Now go out and do great things!
